Background: Under the Global Programme in India, the Transformation of Food Systems (TES) project supports since mid-2023 the Coalition for Food Systems Transforma(c)tion in India (CoFTI) – a multistakeholder initiative is formed. India’s food system, deeply interlinked with climate, health, livelihoods and equity is under growing strain. Addressing this requires systemic change that connects dots across disciplines: from food production and environments to health and nutrition, finance, technology, social sciences, policy and design. It calls for collective and deep understanding of food systems transformation pathways where diverse voices shape approaches and solutions. Among these voices,youth as a catalyser and future change makers play a pivotal role.Overall, this initiative aims to embed future-ready leadership into the heart of food systems transformation to address India's diverse food system challenges, leveraging challenge-based learning, interdisciplinary teamwork and immersive experiences to strengthen collaborative networks to advance transformation goals.
Objectives: • Launch and facilitate a multi-phase hackathon engaging young problem-solvers from different thematic disciplines related to food systems transformation across the country and beyond. • Co-create a credit-based food systems transformation course • Capacitate a cohort of skilled youth innovators equipped with food systems transformation thinking tools and build and sustain a youth network
